ToyToy Games was
founded in 2002 by professional games programmer Tasos Tzimorotas.
Their goal was to create top quality games that would bring back the feeling of the 80s arcades.
They produced fun games for the entire family that did not require a high end PC to be played on.
All of their games were released in both web/online and downloadable/offline versions.
The Java technology
was selected for the implementation, as Java was suitable
for creating robust and high performance web games at the time.
For the offline Windows versions
they created the application itsAlive (© 2003 Tasos Tzimorotas). itsAlive
handles video modes and system
messages to offer a flawless execution environment.
Then somewhere in 2006, ToyToy went silent, with no new games, no new updates, and even the removal
of Mr. and Ms. Muncher, rendering Ms. Muncher a rare game and Mr. Muncher lost media, because the
Wayback Machine refused to give data on the website until 2016-ish.
But now, in 2023, Kaie Goodman of CosmicToons has stepped up and recreated the ToyToy Games website,
with all the games intact! Java 6 is required because it just won't work in Java 7 or above, and
online play isn't working at the moment.
Java 6 is hard to find, so I'm gonna host it here.
